Wiki Log
An append-only, chronological record of what has happened to this wiki — ingests, queries and maintenance passes. Newest entries at the bottom.

[2026-08-02] ingest | Whillas–McLeod history spreadsheet (Rev 4), 1860s–1970s
Ingested 12 decade CSV sheets from source/ (the family history spreadsheet, "Whillas–Mcleod history from … Rev 4"), covering 1860–1979. Each sheet is a years × months matrix of dated events plus footnotes.
Created:
- 12 timeline pages — one per decade, 1860s through 1970s.
- 39 people pages — the full Whillas and McLeod/Gunn lines from the 1846-born John Foggo Whillas down to the 14 children of Dick and Cath.
- 19 place pages — Scotland/Ireland origins, South Australian towns and lighthouses, and the family's Victorian and WA homes.
- 9 event pages — emigrations, marriages, Norman MacLeod's WW1 service, and the 1970 Hopetoun truck accident.
- 3 document pages + index, including a scan of the Catherine Gunn death certificate (1950).
- Family tree (Mermaid diagram + outline), index, and this log.
Notes / open questions carried from the source:
- Cath's birth year is recorded as 1921 on her certificate but appears as 1920 in some family records.
- Norman MacLeod's post-1936 lighthouse postings (Althorpe Island, Cape du Couedic) rest on Cath's recollection; the SA Archives have no record after Cape Northumberland.
- Several "when was the move to …?" questions (Brae, Sth Purrumbete, Invergordon, Fremantle) remain open in the source.
- Timeline is organised by decade (matching the source sheets). Individual year pages (e.g.
timeline/1963.md) can be split out later as content grows. - The bulk photo archive in
source/Mcleod, Whillas family/has not yet been catalogued — see photos index.
[2026-08-02] maintenance | Open-questions page & timeline convention
- Created open-questions.md, collating every unresolved question/gap flagged in the source (family moves, Norman's records, missing certificates, unidentified relatives, etc.), each linked to its relevant page. Linked from home and the index.
- Updated
CLAUDE.mdto document the by-decade timeline convention (timeline/1960s.md) in place of the original per-year example, with a note that year pages can be split out as coverage grows.
[2026-09-30] ingest | Interview with Teena McLean (16 Aug 2026)
Ingested the oral-history interview conducted by Erika Whillas. Added a high-level life timeline and cited recollections to Teena's page, created the interview source page and 1968 marriage event, and linked interview quotations from pages for Dick, Cath, Fran, and Robert, plus the 1970 accident.
Added place pages for Cobden, Tandarook South, Shepparton, and Alstonville; added the 1968 marriage to the 1960s timeline and the 2004 newsagency sale to the 2000s timeline. Updated the index, documents index, home, and open questions with conflicts or unresolved details from the interview. The supplied transcript was moved unchanged to source/_ingested/.
