## Life

Charles Johnston Whillas ("C.J.") was the eldest of the eight children of John Foggo Whillas and Frances Johnston. He married [Charlotte Sloggett](/people/charlotte-sloggett-whillas-b1879) in North Adelaide in 1906 (see [the marriage](/events/marriage-charles-whillas-to-charlotte-sloggett-1906)).

On 22 October 1912 he purchased **22 Stanley St, Woodville**, which became the long-standing family home. He died at Woodville in April 1944, aged 73, while his son Dick was serving in the RAAF.
