She started work in July 1931 at the Rundle St shop of her aunts [Nell](/people/helen-mary-whillas-b1876) and [Min](/people/minnie-constance-whillas-b1889). On 4 July 1934 she began work at COR, becoming ledger supervisor, and retired in February 1953 aged 35. In February 1946 she and her mother [Lotte](/people/charlotte-sloggett-whillas-b1879) bought 22 Gulf Pde, Brighton. She married Reg Hall in Woodville in March 1953 (see [the marriage](/events/marriage-frances-whillas-to-reg-hall-1953)); they had no children.
