- **13 Sep 1871** — [John Foggo Whillas](/people/john-foggo-whillas-b1846) marries [Frances Johnston](/people/frances-johnston-whillas-b1849) in Norwood, South Australia. - **14 Jul 1872** — [Charles Johnston Whillas](/people/charles-johnston-whillas-b1872) (Dick's father) born, [Adelaide](/places/adelaide-south-australia). No birth certificate. He had 7 siblings.

- **18 Aug 1873** — [Catherine Gunn](/people/catherine-gunn-macleod-b1873) (Cath's mother) born, Barvas (birth-certificate extract held). She was the 4th of 5 sisters.

- **Nov 1878** — [James Andrew Whillas](/people/james-andrew-whillas), John Foggo's brother, arrives in Adelaide, including a stint at *Whillas and Ormiston*. Married but no children.

- **18 Jul 1879** — [Catherine Charlotte "Lotte" Sloggett](/people/charlotte-sloggett-whillas-b1879) born, [Millicent, SA](/places/millicent-south-australia). No birth certificate. She was the eldest of 8 girls.

- **John Foggo Whillas** was born in [Edinburgh](/places/edinburgh-scotland), Scotland on 21 May 1846 and died in Adelaide in March 1897 (age 50). **Frances Johnston** was born in [Belleek, Ireland](/places/belleek-northern-ireland) 14 Aug 1849 and died in Adelaide in July 1936 (age 86).

- Dick had 7 aunts on his mother's side (the Sloggett girls of Millicent) — an undated photo names six of them with Charlotte in Mt Gambier: Murd, Dorothy, Ethyl(?), May, Lil, Evelyn. Daisy is not shown (said to have died aged ~12). Not in Robert's database.
