# Timeline: 2000s

## Events

- **2004** — [Teena Whillas](/people/christine-frances-whillas-b1947) and John sell their [Alstonville](/places/alstonville-new-south-wales) newsagency after about 25 years. Teena recalled, “Until 2004, after 25 years, we sold.” The interview does not establish the exact opening date.

## Notes & uncertainties

- The business's opening date is not given; “about 25 years” suggests an approximate start around 1979 but should not be treated as a confirmed date. See [Teena's interview](/documents/interview-teena-mclean-2026).
